Red Cross Garissa Emergency Response
Garissa County, Kenya
Client
Kenya Red Cross Society
⚠️The Challenge
Severe drought in Garissa County had dried up shallow wells and reduced borehole yields. Over 20,000 people faced acute water shortage requiring emergency intervention.
✓Our Solution
Rapid response program: rehabilitated 4 failed boreholes (desilting, pump replacement, chlorination), drilled 3 new emergency boreholes in high-need areas, and installed temporary diesel pumps for immediate water supply.
📊Results & Impact
- ▸20,000+ people received emergency water access within 30 days
- ▸All 7 boreholes operational within project timeline
- ▸Daily water production: 200,000+ liters
- ▸No cholera outbreaks despite drought conditions
- ▸Community water committees established for sustainability
