World Vision Isiolo Water Program
Isiolo County, Kenya
Client
World Vision Kenya
⚠️The Challenge
Pastoralist communities in arid Isiolo County faced extreme water scarcity. Traditional water sources had dried up due to drought, forcing families to migrate with their livestock and disrupting children's education.
✓Our Solution
We implemented a multi-site water program with 8 deep boreholes (150-250m) in strategic locations. Each site includes solar pumping systems, elevated steel tanks, and cattle troughs designed for livestock watering. Community water management committees were trained for sustainability.
📊Results & Impact
- ▸25,000 people and 100,000+ livestock now have water access
- ▸School attendance increased by 45% as families stabilized
- ▸Livestock mortality reduced by 60% during dry seasons
- ▸Reduced conflict between communities over water resources
- ▸Community-managed systems achieving 95% uptime
